DescriptionJFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is a file format used for the exchange of JPEG encoded images. JFIF is an application-specific format that is based on the JPEG standard, and it is widely used for storing and transmitting digital images. JFIF files have the .jfif file extension.
Technical detailsA JFIF file consists of a series of markers and segments that contain information about the image. The file starts with a "SOI" marker, which stands for Start Of Image, and ends with an "EOI" marker, which stands for End Of Image. In between these markers, the file contains a series of segments, which may include a "JFIF" header segment, an "APP0" marker, and one or more "JPEG" segments. The "JFIF" header segment contains information about the file, such as the image width and height, the aspect ratio, and the resolution. The "APP0" marker contains additional information about the file, including the JFIF version number and the pixel density. The "JPEG" segments contain the compressed image data. JFIF files are compatible with most image viewing and editing software, as they are based on the widely used JPEG standard. However, some applications may not support all the features of the JFIF format, such as the aspect ratio or pixel density information. In such cases, the image may appear distorted or stretched when opened in the application.
