Description | In 2000, Microsoft created and released the .lit file type. A major disadvantage of this format is its non-compatibility with other devices. In 2011, its sales ceased and the format became grounded. It was finally dropped in August 2012. |
Technical details | With Microsoft Reader (ClearType), color reduces thereby aiding visuals and easy reading on small devices. Users can draw on pages, take notes, highlight text, and search contents. PC with plugins for text-to-speech reads out the book directly. Some Windows-based phones and Windows Pocket devices work with LIT files. Kindle, iBook, and Nook do not. Windows 95 with Vista OS, Pocket PC 2000-2002 and Windows Mobile 2003, 2003 SE, 5.5, 6.0, and 6.1 works with LIT files |
